Pressure testing of butterfly valves
Dedicated to flanged and wafer butterfly valves: the body is filled, raised to test pressure and held while the body and the seat are checked.
A hydraulic bench built specifically for butterfly valves: it clamps the body, pressurises the body and the seat, works the disc through its travel and checks electric actuator torque, from DN50 wafer bodies to DN2000 flanged valves.
A butterfly valve is held by its own body rather than between two pipe flanges, and the disc sits in the flow path. The machine therefore has to grip the body firmly without distorting it and still leave the disc free to turn. The KY-T series uses synchronous wrapping jaws that close on the body together, so the sealing faces stay parallel and no bending load reaches the body or its flange bolt holes. The catalogue lists a single-jaw version and a combined sleeve-type version that spreads the clamping force over a longer section of the body.
The series is dedicated to flanged and wafer butterfly valves. It runs the pressure performance test on the body and the seat, works the disc through its opening and closing travel and measures the torque of an electric actuator. Testing the valve as an assembly catches the case where a body holds pressure but the actuator cannot seat the disc against full differential pressure.
Two pumps drive the circuit: a high-pressure pump that sets the test pressure and a high-flow, low-pressure water pump that fills the valve quickly, with the medium circulated and stored inside the machine. Models run from KY-T300 to KY-T2000, covering DN50 to DN2000, on a 380 V / 50 Hz supply with a 6-pole motor of 2.2 kW to 7.5 kW.
All seven models share the electrical platform and pump pressures; size range, valve pressure, openings and machine size change with the model.

Footnote: these are the published catalogue figures for the KY-T series. The machine is built to order, so the final specification — clamping range, openings, sealing arrangement and control level — is confirmed against your valve list at quotation.
Dedicated to flanged and wafer butterfly valves: the body is filled, raised to test pressure and held while the body and the seat are checked.
Disc opening and closing is exercised on the same machine and electric actuator torque is measured, so an actuated valve can be proved as a complete assembly.
The jaws close on the body together, keeping the two sealing faces parallel. Single-jaw and combined sleeve-type versions are catalogued.
A high-pressure pump sets the test pressure and a high-flow, low-pressure water pump fills the valve quickly; the medium is circulated and stored.
380 V, 50 Hz and a 6-pole motor: 2.2 kW on KY-T300 rising to 7.5 kW on KY-T1200 and above, with the power unit matched to the model.
A computerised test data management system can be ordered so each valve's result is recorded and printed.
The series covers the butterfly valve range: flanged bodies and wafer (clamp-between) bodies from DN50 to DN2000 across the seven models. Because the bench also exercises the disc and measures actuator torque, it suits valves supplied complete with an electric actuator as well as valves tested bare. The outline drawing shows the clamping jaws, sealing heads and control cabinet.
Gate, globe, check, ball and plug valves are clamped differently and go on the other KANGYUAN machines: the KY series hydraulic valve test bench for flanged straight-through valves, and the KY-B vertical machine for heavier bodies loaded by crane.
A butterfly valve is clamped on its own body, with the disc in the flow path, so the machine must hold the body without distorting it while the disc stays free to move. The KY-T series uses synchronous wrapping jaws for that reason, and it also exercises the disc and checks electric actuator torque, which a bench built only for body and seat pressure does not do.
The published models run from KY-T300 for DN50 to DN300 valves up to KY-T2000 for DN1200 to DN2000 valves, so the series covers DN50 to DN2000 overall. Choose the model whose range brackets the largest and smallest butterfly valve you test; the final specification is confirmed at quotation.
Yes. The catalogue lists pressure performance testing together with disc opening and closing and electric actuator torque testing on the same machine, so an actuated valve can be proved as a complete assembly. Send the actuator make, model and rated torque with your enquiry.
The machine carries two pumps: a high-pressure pump that raises the test pressure and a high-flow, low-pressure water pump that fills the valve quickly. The test medium is circulated and stored inside the machine instead of being run to drain. Water is the medium the circuit is built around; tell us if you need to test with another.
KANGYUAN machines are built to reach and hold the pressures required by the standard you quote, such as GB/T13927-92 or API 598, and the company operates an ISO 9000 quality management system. A computerised test data management system can be ordered with the bench so that each valve's result is recorded and printed rather than written by hand.
